The Puerto Rican designer presents at Jewelers the proposal that she has just successfully shown in New York
industry With an extensive and successful career in the jewelry, designer María Blondet brings to the island a collection that she has just presented in New York City. Her appointment with her Puerto Rican clientele will be this Saturday, December 10 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at Reinhold Jewelers in Plaza Las Américas.
In this collection, María Blondet celebrates life through its most basic form: water, a necessary element for life as we know it.
“It is one of our basic needs. It is innately relaxing. And, above all, it is a bond that is felt deeply, directly in the soul of a person. Its presence and sound are meditative for the eyes and ears of the person, since it keeps us connected to the earth and acts as a reminder of the simplicity of life and how we should flow in it”, says the designer.
One of the main attractions of Blondet’s creations is that he manages to transform 935 Argentium silver and 22-carat gold into soft and elegant flows of water through texture and shape.
This collection is different from his other works in that it does not attempt to be bold and contrasting. Instead, it’s Blondet’s effort to replicate the calming properties of his greatest source of inspiration: water. She manages to achieve this smooth effect in metal by avoiding harsh lines or her usual play on contrasts, choosing instead to produce more circular and repetitive shapes of different sizes that she then joins together to create unity and a sense of movement. Gold pieces are often incorporated into her pieces to symbolize the sun, looking down and heating the water below it.
“This selection is made up of more than waves. They are silver and gold waves. captured in eternal movement, intended to be worn and enhanced by its wearer. Everything has been created to celebrate the bond and connection that, as humans, we feel with nature and with water, the source of all life as we know it”, he concludes.
